Financial Proof for Student Visas
Everything you need to know about bank statements, GICs, solvency certificates, and education loans.
Acceptable Sources of Funds
Visa officers look for "Liquid Funds"โmoney that is immediately available for your education. Assets like real estate or jewelry are generally not accepted as primary proof.
Bank Statements
Typically 3-6 months of transaction history. Must show a stable balance without sudden large deposits.
Solvency Certificates
A letter from your bank confirming your total liquid assets. Crucial for USA and Australia.
Education Loans
Sanction letters from recognized banks are highly favored by visa officers as a secure source.
GIC Certificates
Mandatory for Canada SDS. A fixed deposit of $20,635 CAD that you can't withdraw until you arrive.

The "6-Month Rule"
Avoid "fund parking"โdepositing large sums just before applying. Officers see this as a red flag. If you sell an asset, provide the sale deed as evidence.
